Carpinteria, CA, March 7, 2006 – ZBE, Incorporated’s Chromira5x 30 and Chromira5x 50
printers received top honors at Digital Imaging Marketing Association’s (DIMA)
11th Annual Digital Printer Shoot-Out in conjunction with the PMA
Convention in Orlando, Florida. The
Chromira5x 30 was selected as the best in the 30” - 49” wide-format photo
printer category and the Chromira5x 50 won highest honors in the 50” and greater
category.
Many
leading companies in the photo industry submitted images in this year’s DIMA
Digital Printer Shoot-Out. Participants
were asked to provide prints based on a “target” file, along with
specifications pertaining to the equipment used (printer); the consumables used
(output media); and the production timing.
Entries were judged in a controlled lighting environment at the
headquarters of GTI Graphic Technology using D50 light temperature. The target file contained a GretagMacbeth
color checker with known values, which were measured and scored
appropriately. Judging was also based
on neutral gray balance reproduction, saturation, shadow detail and quality,
overall tonality and detail, highlights and specular highlights, flesh tones,
hue shift, and text. Also recognized
was Kodak’s Ultra Endura paper as it was utilized in the print creation
process.
